A2O Question of the week: If you were a song....

........what song would it be?

I got the question in my email just before heading out for my run in McCall on Sunday.  At first I thought it was kind of silly, but it really made me think about who I am and how I perceive my progress and goals.

I thought about it the whole time and couldn't really come up with anything.  I asked the kids when I got back and had several honorable mentions.  Dr. Feelgood by Motley Crue (Zach's favorite), Wheels on the bus (because I just keep going and going), For those about to rock we salute you by AC/DC, Firework by Katy Perry, and This ain't nothin' by Craig Morgan.  Good songs but not quite.

Running is my time to reset my brain so I can think clearly.  Believe it or not I don't even own an Ipod. That said, I went through my daughters MP3 player and found The Climb, by Miley Cyrus. It does a good job of capturing what I am all about.

-----------
I can almost see it
That dream I am dreaming
But there's a voice inside my head saying
"You'll never reach it"

Every step I'm taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking

But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb
-----------------------

Life is a journey, not a destination.....enjoy the ride (climb)! Keep up the hard work everyday and you will get there.

My second choice was The Four Horsemen by Metallica. Mostly because it is a fast, rockin' song and because it brings a smile to my face every time I think about how I would turn it on full blast and leave the room to wake up my older brother Russ before school back in 1990!

My trainer, Austin at A2O Fitness, suggested "He's going the distance", by Cake. Which I really liked too!

Make it a great day. Ryan

  1. Thanks for the support, Ryan!!

Oh and that Miley song is perfect... I really like the song but never thought of it in goal terms. It seems to fit nicely! :)

  2. After 20+ years of being VERY overweight and scared to really live my life, I am finally working to shed my fluffy outer shell. One month and 13 pounds down - 119 more pounds to go - and I am truly positive that this time I'm gonna make it! So my song has got to be "I'm Coming Out" by Diana Ross.
Ryan, your blog is on my Favorites list - I am truly inspired by your perseverance and positive attitude. HAVE FUN IN BOSTON!!! :)

  3. Thank you Sandy, you can do! Just one day at a time and don't let a bad day get you down. Congratulations on your 13 pounds! I used the first pounds lost as motivation to keep going after I proved to myself that it COULD be done. Check out Ashley's blog, (the first comment here) she has been doing awesome and has a great blog too.
